About the Job

Hello, we are BAUS.

And BAUS grows. Would you like to be a BAUS too?

To strengthen and enrich our team, we are looking for a

Freelance Architect (80–100%) based in Mexico City starting January 2026

BAUS is a young, experimental architectural and general planning office based in Zurich. We develop, design, and realize projects of all scales — from public buildings to single- and multi-family homes to cooperative housing projects. As a general planner, we take responsibility for the whole process: from financing concepts to turnkey delivery. We connect design, technology, and organization — digitally, precisely, and with curiosity.
This role is part of our strategic plan to establish a local office in CDMX in January 2027, offering concrete opportunities for long-term professional growth and leadership development.

Your mission

  • You are key in supporting architectural design development and detailed documentation (Executive Project) with our Zurich team for projects spanning complex renovations of office buildings to construction of villas at lake Zurich to creative collaborations with our clients.
  • ArchiCAD (via ArchiCAD Teamwork) is going to become your number 1 tool.
  • You produce high-quality renderings and visualizations that clearly communicate design intent.
  • You prepare design presentations for our clients with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • You develop construction and executive drawings for our various projects based in Switzerland, following SIA standards.
  • You collaborate and communicate efficiently with clients, specialists, and colleagues.

Your profile

  • You hold a degree in architecture (ideal from IBERO, UNAM, IPN, or Tecnológico de Monterrey). A master’s degree in architecture or a related specialization is considered a strong plus.
  • You have multiple years of professional experience (not internships only), experience on construction sites is a plus.
  • You are experienced in detailed design and construction documentation (Executive project) as well as renderings and visual presentations.
  • You are proficient in Adobe tools with some ArchiCAD skills (Teamwork experience is a plus).
  • You are fluent in English (min. C1); German is a plus.
  • You are interested in Swiss-quality standards and detailing (SIA regulations) and are motivated to grow with us toward the CDMX office opening in 2027.
  • You are used to working remotely and delivering on clear deadlines.
  • You are willing to adjust your working hours to Swiss time, i.e. start your workdays at 7:00 am.

Why us?

  • A clear professional growth pathway and the opportunity to become part of the core structure of our future CDMX office in 2027.
  • Participation in shaping the team structure, work culture, and project workflows of the new office.
  • Possibility to grow into project coordination or team lead roles over time.
  • Exposure to Swiss project methodologies, construction standards (SIA), and high-detail architectural processes.
